Jody Haines’s PhD Examination Exhibition
In the Stillness of (Re)membering invites viewers into a journey of resistance, memory, and connection. Held within the historic Stables at North Melbourne’s Meat Market, this exhibition weaves together public artworks, collaborative portraits, and installations, showcasing key works from Haines’ PhD research, including Against the Wind (2023) and Flowing With the Future (Surviving Batman) (2024).
Through self-portraiture, video, sound, and collaborative portraits with humans, the more-than-human, and Country, visitors enter a space of (un) becoming and (re)becoming. The experience ends in a love letter to Country— an invitation to slow down, feel, and (re)connect on an embodied level, offering a shared experience of resistance, connection, and knowing.
